Egypt eVisa information

When we started filling out the eVisa application form for Egypt, we found that the application form requested information specific to determining whether we qualified for the eVisa. Please note these details need to be accurate to ensure quick, efficient processing. It would help if you showed that you come from a country that is approved for the Egyptian eVisa.

Egypt eVisa Type: Currently, the only type of eVisa offered is for tourism. However, Egypt hopes to open the eVisa process to people traveling for other purposes soon. So, we could apply for an eVisa as the reason for our visit to the country for tourism.

Entry Type: We had to select whether we wanted an eVisa valid for one entry into Egypt or one good for multiple entries. If you only plan to enter once, we advise you to stay in Egypt; the single-entry version costs less.

Previous Travel to Egypt: If you have visited Egypt before, you must enter the dates when you went to the country. If you do not know these exactly, you can enter an approximate date. You will also be asked for the address where you stayed in Egypt. If you don’t have it or don’t remember, you can enter "NA." However, you must put something in the space on the form.

Previous Deportations: This references deportations from any country, not just Egypt. If you have been deported, you need to note the country from which you were deported and the reason why.

After filling in the above information, you can navigate to the next section of the Egypt eVisa application form.

Personal information

Remember, the application for the Egypt eVisa also asks for your personal information. If the data you enter here is also on your passport, you must enter it exactly as it appears on that document. If it is different, then your visa may not be granted. On the eVisa form for Egypt, you will be asked for additional information above what is on the passport. You need to complete the electronic visa form and ensure that the information is accurate.

First Name: If you have a middle name that appears on your passport, you need to enter that here, too.

Last Name: If you are someone with a complicated or long last name, then you need to take special care that the name you enter here exactly matches the name as it is on your passport.

Country of Birth: It is the country mentioned on your birth certificate, even if you no longer live or hold citizenship there.

Date of Birth: You will need to enter your entire date of birth, including the 4-digit year in which you were born. We had to enter this in the following order: Month/Day/Year on our eVisa for Egypt application form.

Gender: You should enter the gender that is on your passport. If that is not accurate, you will need to obtain a new, more accurate passport.

Original Nationality: You should note down here your original country of citizenship, even if you are no longer citizens there.

Marital Status: You need to fill out whether you are married, single, or fall into one of the other categories given as options here.

You should fill out what you are doing for a living. If you have an unusual job, you can use your job title. Unemployed travelers can note that or say "NA."

Applicant Address: You need to fill out the current address in your country of residence, even if that is not your country of citizenship or country of birth.

Phone Number: Remember to add the relevant international calling code to your phone number. You can look this up online if you don’t know what it is.

Other Nationalities: If you have given up your original citizenship or hold multiple passports, you should note the relevant countries here. It would be best to list all countries where you hold citizenship on the Egyptian online visa application form.

Egypt electronic visa

Passport information

We believe that the information in this section of the electronic visa application form for Egypt needs to be specific to the passport you are carrying. It needs to be entered exactly as it appears on your passport. Remember, you will need to use the same passport to both enter and exit Egypt.

Passport Type: The only acceptable passport for the Egypt eVisa is the ordinary passport, which most citizens carry. Diplomats have their own type of passport, as do other government officials who travel on official business. These people cannot enter Egypt on an eVisa.

As we were ordinary passport holders of a country that Egypt deems eVisa eligible, we could easily navigate to the next section.

Passport Number: On the online Egypt visa form, you should take special care that the number you enter here matches exactly the number on your passport or your visa will be rejected. We took extra care to fill this field.

Passport Place of Issue: This is the location where the passport was approved and issued. You can easily find it on your passport, and it may not be anywhere near where you live.

Passport Issue Date: This is the date on which your passport was issued, not the date on which it was applied for. We had to enter the whole date, including the 4-digit year.

Passport Expiration Date: After this date, the passport is no longer valid. The passport must be valid through your proposed departure date from Egypt. Additionally, you should have at least 6 months of additional validity beyond that.

After completing the above section of the eVisa form for Egypt, we proceeded to fill up the next segment of our online application.

Passport photo upload

The Egypt visa (visa) will require you to upload a photo of your passport. This will be the page where you will upload particulars such as a photo of yourself, name, date of birth, etc. Your signature page will also need to be included in the photo.

A scan of the passport can be used, or an image can be taken with a smartphone. However, while filling out the Egyptian eVisa form, your image will need to be clear. An unclear photo of your passport will get the Egypt eVisa rejected. Follow the above photo requirements, and your photo will be approved.

pro-tip-1

Expected Arrival Date: This is the date upon which your flight will arrive in Egypt. Note that this may be different from the date on which you depart your home country.

Expected Departure Date: This is the date upon which your departure flight leaves Egypt.

Traveling From: You need to note the country where you will be before visiting Egypt. This can be your home country or another country you are visiting beforehand.

Host Name: This is where or with whom you will be staying while in Egypt. The name of a resort or hotel is an acceptable answer here. As we were not staying with anyone in Egypt, we chose the option "Hotel."

Host Email: If your host has an email address, you should enter that here. If you don’t have one or know it, then you can enter "NA."

Host Address: You should put as much detail here as you can. However, if you only know the name of the city or the area in which you will be staying, you can enter that here.

Travel and accommodation costs

The answer to this question helps the government ensure that no one will be stranded in Egypt without funds. Hence, you must answer whether you are covering the travel costs yourself, whether your host is doing it, or whether the travel costs are covered by another company or organization.
